We will be having a Junior! He will be Dempsey Lucas Griffin Jr. I let hubby choose the final name if it was a boy, and that is what he wanted. :-) We went for the gender ultrasound on March 13th at Ultrasona. We went with our daughter as well, and it was worth every penny. We still haven't gone for our big ultrasound at the doctor office. That is on April 17th.

Good news though. I switched doctors offices. I made the decision after I passed a kidney stone and my doctor office told me too bad, medicare doesn't cover anything for kidney stones. Well, I'm not a medicare patient and I paid them $300 already for my care up to delivery, because I have private insurance, and I'm told, "We have so many medicare patients we treat all of our patients as if they were on medicare. You can't have special treatment." Well, I have a problem with this. So then I hear that the hospital is overflowed on a daily basis and I will most likely have to spend my labor in the hallway. So, at this point I'm rather irritated. I'm a paying customer for my services and I'm pregnant and hormonal, so I call a new doctor office and switch to a different hospital as well. I moved from the hospital 10 mins away from my house, to one that's 30. It's so much nicer, and there are tubs in the room. I met the new doctor, he is great! I'm excited to see how it goes.

My Road to Pregnancy
I am due with the new baby 09/09/12. I was thrilled when I found out I was pregnant this time, but scared at the same time! I had three pregnancies and three miscarriages in three years before I became pregnant with my daughter. The first time we saw her heartbeat, in that ultrasound at 6 weeks, I cried tears of joy. We had never even made it that far. After her birth, we knew it would take a while to get pregnant again. We decided to start trying again when she was 18 months. I was still breastfeeding and no AF in sight.
Thus started the year of bad news.
I was diagnosed with PCOS, or poly cystic ovary syndrome, which is a major cause of infertility in women. After my daughter was born, I had a severe bout of postpartum depression, and with all the meds I took, I didn't lose my baby weight. After I was diagnosed with PCOS, weight loss became a big challenge. I was place on Metformin, but then I got sick. I couldn't keep food down or in. After everything was said and done, I went from 208 lbs, my highest weight ever a year after my daughter was born, to my current prepregnancy weight of 148lbs. For a total of 50lbs!!!! I weighed 160 before I got pregnant with my daughter. I am hoping for a healthy pregnancy this time around. At my 12 week appointment, I weighed 147. But I sure am getting a belly!
With all my sickness, we kinda put baby making on the back burner. We did take a few months of birth control to regulate my periods, then charting to watch ovulation, but there was none. My endocrinologist wanted to start Clomid in February, so we were patiently waiting for that time to come around. In December, I thought I had an ear infection, and went in for some antibiotics. Two weeks later I started to have sore boobs. I knew right then what it was, although a few months early my breasts had started leaking milk, and they thought it was a surge in hormones, nothing to worry about, since I'd only quit breastfeeding 8 months before. So I wasn't getting my hopes up.
They kept hurting, from the 20th to the 28th. If it were AF coming, it would've started already. Although with my current cycles, it wasn't due until mid January. We POAS December 30th. It was positive and we were in shock.
Per my charts, we thought we conceived on December 15th, the baby is measuring 3 days later, but that's completely normal. I'm happy my doctor went with the baby measurement instead of LMP, because that would put me due an entire week later. Never underestimate the power of antibiotics!!!! Although the doctor still doesn't understand how that caused me to ovulate.
My Life In A Nutshell
I am a Mommy. I am a full time technical support representative. My hardest job is a Mommy. I learn something new everyday because I don't know all the answers, but I could tell you everything you wanted to know about cell phones. I have struggled with infertility and miscarriages, but have a beautiful little girl. I was blessed with her presence on July 23, 2009. My pregnancy was pretty much uneventful once I made it past the first trimester, then not again until the end. I will go into that later. I am now pregnant with my second baby! My husband and I are very excited. We got very lucky health wise this time around. And things have between going pretty great! My hope with this blog is to share my life lessons as a Mom!
